jeep puzzle

is there anybody on the forum who is a jeep expert a friend lent me a jeep book what puzzled me is why are there a full set of dials I would have thought that dial maker were at full work load making dials for aircraft plus the cost per jeep when I drove London transport buses they only had a speedo the boss thought putting to many dials was to much information for the driver

Re: jeep puzzle

Because they where made in america there was no shortages of anything plenty of labour and they where quick and easy to build. Thats why british bikes piss oil all over build em fast and cheap and keep getting them out.

Re: jeep puzzle

Roger a Jeep has the standard gauges Oil/Amps/Temp/Fuel. Most British vehicles were also fitted with standard gauges with sometimes the exception of Water Temp and Fuel gauge. (A dip stick is cheaper). Ron

hi Ron,

what is that switch on the right off the temp gauge?

cheers,

Leon

Re: jeep puzzle

Panel lights I would think? My jeep has a totally different instrument cluster fitted, but then it's a pre-production 1941 model.

Will post a picture when back from foreign climes.

Cheers,

Lex

Re: jeep puzzle

Leon the little switch was fitted for my Siren. But then I grew up and gave the siren away. I'll have to invent something else for the switch now. Ron
