Hi, the restoration of my 1933 BSA Blue Star is nearing completion but the correct brass DC40 inspection lamp is long gone. It was the type that fitted onto 2 spring loaded balls in the middle of the tank instrument panel.
Does anyone know if its possible to 'modify' one of the repo bakelite bayonet fitting DC40 lamps to fit the 2 balls mounting?
Failing this, any good ideas to fill the great ugly hole in the middle of the panel.
I assume it would be the same as the brass ones fitted to pre war Triumphs? If so, I bought an expensive but beautiful English made reproduction lamp from 'Trisupply'
Im following this thread with interest, been on the hunt for one myself for years for my 1937 M20. Trisupply list one in there catalouge for £275 . I dont think the bayonet type could easily be made to fit the other type.
Thanks Ron,
I was not aware of the Tri-Supply copy. I have had a look at their website and the lamp looks good and your assessment of the quality is reassuring.
I will need to do some more investigation to check that it is the same fitting for BSA and Triumph.
