Anyone know who might have front brake shoes for the Wm20 1943 as I need a new set mine not looking good, I did get a set from Dragonfly but they don't seam to fit
After 70 years the break drum will be a bit bigger than the day it left the factory so the usual trick is to fit thicker linings.
I get mine relined to suit the drum for around $ 120 Aus which is a lot more expensive than simply replacing the shoes but my brakes actually work.
There are now replica M20 brake shoes on the market and it will be these that Carl has bought I would think...
I've heard they are Indian and if that's the case it's no surprise they don't fit...I hate to say it but I've heard the same story about Draganfly parts a number of times (oil pump drive shafts, mudguards etc. and in a recent post a new oil pump that had to be 'fettled' before use)..Don't they check parts at all before selling them?...Ian
Looks like I will have to send mine off island to have them redone but a little concerned as it they get lot in the post finding new one but be a problem.

No they don't
And the 15 year old store man would not have a clue either.
However they should take notice of their customers , give full refunds & have a chat to the supplier.
Oft you are not dealing with the maker directly but through a middle man who will oft change suppliers without telling you.
Hi guys I agree with ron I live 2 mile up the road from saftek I have replaced all my brake shoes on my m20 and my wng .I take them down in the morning and pick them up at tea time 15 pound cash a pair .no is 01274 862666 or email . Sales@saftek.co.uk
Go for Saftek, I've had several sets done by them and they are good. Also I've bought some "BSA" new brake shoes at a bike jumble and when I offered them up there was no way they were anywhere near fitting. I dont know their origin (Warwichshire for me)but they are rubbish.

Getting original secondhand parts is getting harder and harder and I think its safe to say that after 70 years any parts that are offered as "new", as opposed to NOS should be treated as suspect. Dealers have to get stock and India is at least the only place making the spares these days, especialy tinware. This is fine as long as you appreciate that these parts are unlikely to have been made by BSA!
A lot of indian made stuff can be fettled and made to fit ie tanks mudguards etc but of course never use the girders. If you see new girders its 99.99% sure their indian.
We would be in real trouble if no one made pattern parts anymore even if they don't fit
This is why, particulaly for the rivet counters, NOS stuff if favoured, but not everyone can pay £500+ for a set of crankcases for example.
