Can somebody tell me if this is realy a correct carburettor for my BSA M20 1940 and how much is it smart to bid (I saw in the Amal store that a new one costs around 280 GBP)
The only BSA models that lists that carb are B31-32 1946-48. Having said that, any 276 carb (right side) with the correct float bowl and internals is fine. However I find the carb body casting looks very porous with zoom. I just wondered if these were being cast in the middle east Ron
It was originally fitted to a B31 and although it should have a 1" bore (as per M20), it opens out to 1 1/16" at the engine end. I have no idea if this makes a practical difference.
The big question is whether it's worn or not. It's quite knocked about on the outside. If it is worn then you'll have to budget for having it bored true and a sleeved slide made.
My personal choice would be to look out for an NOS body and build a carb round it.
