Message or Rik re Norton crankcase breather

Rik,
Talking to a guy this weekend he has taken his 16H crankcase breather to bits to clean it. He said he had a spring at the back of the ball. I told him they do not have a spring just the ball. Now thinking about it i may be wrong so i thought i would ask the expert.
Cheers

Re: Message or Rik re Norton crankcase breather

Tim, you're too kind. I make no such claims but I try to observe and learn.

They're blighters to take apart but of the four old ones that I have loose, none seem to have a spring in. The balls are free to rattle.

There wouldn't be much room for a spring once the top retainer is screwed home.

Thanks Rik, sure mine did not have a spring but i was not going to pull it apart to see. At least i can hold my head up high the next time i see him.
