Brake Shoe Removal

Hey guys,

Do any of you have a simple way to remove the brake shoes without snapping your fingers with the springs and shoes? I got a heckova whack the other day and
have black and blue knuckles. Yes, I wore gloves.

Cheers,

Robb

As I recall, raise one side @ center of crescent. Repeat on other side so they are both folded up and it relieves spring pressure

Hi Robb,

You can lift one shoe end at a time out of it's place
Using something like the toolkit tire lever.

If you remove one end from either shoe side,
(I mean, it can be top right and bottom left, if easier)
there will be no spring tension.

Noam.

Thanks! I'll try it this evening and see what happens.

Re: Brake Shoe Removal

Hi Robb,

You do not always have a Fulcrum from the front,
So it is possible to peel the shoes like in the photos.
I only had a narrow screwdriver handy when took the photo,
But the same with a wide tool will do the trick.
Noam.
