They are for cars
I've only ever seen fire extinguishers fitted to bikes twice in WW2 pictures. Both were on bikes for instructors during training and they are the British 'PYRENE' type. Here is one of the pictures. Ron

I have seen few rear original photos with 'PYRENE' type, But cannot find it now. I too have seen lots fitted to restored bikes. But I think it's just 'Artistic Licence' on the part of the owner. Ron
