SCC No.2 Paint

Been chasing around a little for this colour on various recommendations.
Tho confirm;
Jeep Parts UK state they do not sell SCC No.2 (service brown)
&
Frank Burbery no longer sell paint !

Any other avenues ???

Rich

Re: SCC No.2 Paint

Hi Richard, I have spent years trying to find a decent SCC No.2, I bought "Service Brown" and "Dark Earth" from Cobbaton and "Dark Camo Brown" from Jeep parts, in the end I blended the 3 different Browns together with a bit of Cobbaton Dark Olive Drab, it looked OK to start with but now I'm half way through painting my M20 I'm not sure I have it right.

However whatever anyone else says I think we should try to get the colour right for the period we are trying to portray.

So good luck

Rob

Re: SCC No.2 Paint

I very recently took a NOS James fork link in SCC brown to my local automotive paint supplier......I said I wanted it matched exactly, dead flat matt and a product that I could both brush and spray........

The very next morning it was ready, 2 litres at £12 per ltr, and on testing it's a perfect match...........think this is the way to go in future.....:o)

Re: SCC No.2 Paint

Right, just dug out the tin..........

It's quick-drying synthetic.......colour brown....code 7611 (matt) under my name (at Newbury branch - "Steve").......

Supplier is Automotive Paint Supplies, Newbury (Berkshire) on 01635 43149...........they also have branches at Aldershot (Hampshire) on 01252 313141 and Southampton (Hampshire) on 02380 630022...........

Web is www.automotivepaintsupplies.co.uk

The SCC No.2 brown they mixed up for me is colour-matched to an original James ML new-old-stock fork link.......and it is perfect........2 litres @ £12 per litre, brush and spray............

Way to go methinks..........:o)

Robb, I will find out shipping info first.......regs and all that.....but ordering for you not a problem.......will get back to you on this ....

Re: SCC No.2 Paint

I have enquired after the pain and reply as follows;

Thanks for your enquiry. The price for this product is £42.68 + Vat Per 2.5Ltr. Carriage would be £14.95 + Vat. Thinners to Suit @ £7.90 + Vat.

Also they are still asking for a code or a colour to match to.
Works out at £27.66 per litre for the paint. if you want it sent.

Rich

['I have enquired after the pain and reply as follows']...

At £27.66 per litre I would say you got the 'pain' you were enquiring about..
....The last lot of synthetic I mixed myself worked out a lot cheaper than that....Ian

Re: SCC No.2 Paint

Yep, I think I will have to source locally...

Re: SCC No.2 Paint

I'm looking at my receipt here..........

2 ltr of part No. MAX76111 @ £12 per ltr = £24............

1 ltr of synthetic thinners @ £7.90 per ltr = £7.90..........

Vat @ £6.38........

Total........£38.28...........no carriage as I walked home with it......

£31.90 paint and thinners....£6.38 VAT....total £38.28.....
