A few pics kindly sent to me by a gent who I got talking to at a recent event I attended. It turned out that he had ridden a couple of different mounts during his time as a Don R in the early 50's. The DR post, apparently, was considered quite a good number to get on to for a variety of reasons. He was stationed out in Detmold, Germany, with the 9th Queens Royal Lancers. He told me that as he had done 'a bit of riding in the TT' it was not unknown for the DR's to turn the pillion seat around so that they could sit further back and use that one as well! The photos show - the gent, him and his room mate on what he seems to recall was his first machine (with the headlamp cowl, 14YE09), him departing on a job on his second machine (no headlamp cowl)and one of him on his first bike seemingly tear-arsing around the block, as young fellas on a 'free' bike tend to do! :-)
I hope you all enjoy them. It was good of him to take the time and trouble to send them on to me, so thanks Roy.
