Hi Barry...All M20 frames, whether WD or civvy, should have a prefix letter to denote year of manufacture..This one has sidecar lugs and a couple of sidecar fittings still in place, so it has done some time as a sidecar tug. It only has a rear sidecar lug on one side so it will probably be either a wartime one from a sidecar contract or an early post war civvy one..Looking at some of the details and remaining finishes I would say the latter..If it was in fact built in 47 as the listing indicates and it is original, it would have been in the first half of that year....Ian
Hi,I also asked the question, this morning a second reply states there is an X
before M20 on the frame. No further info on the engine number,
cheers Rick
Hi Barry, the letters denote the year of manufacture,WM 20 being the war years,
X will be 1946, Y 1947,and Z 1948.
All the sequences begin at engine and frame number 101, hope this helps.
