I've been after the correct tin for a long time, one came up on Ebay last week which had the correct style of writing but it didn't say "Half Crown", it wasn't a lot of money so I bought it and here it is (left) with what I believe to be a post war version (right).





But when I opened it I discovered the bottom was made from a recycled correct version.



This sort of recycling points to war time economy measures, so could this be late war?

Hi Rob,

As far as I understand it they used the tall version of this tin which had the "Half Crown" on it for the military toolkit.
