Rear wheel thread size

I have started stripping my rear wheel ready for a rebuild and am checking the associated bits for wear etc. The Half spindle has a thread on the end which then has a nut which holds on the brake drum cover . This tread has been flattened off a bit and would probably be recoverable with a die , does anyone know the correct thread for this , it measures about 720thou.Thanks Jeff

Re: Rear wheel thread size

Hi Jeff...Google 'The Tap and Die company'...They are in London and have pretty much everything....That one will cost you a couple of bob though...(Make sure you get a high speed steel die..not a carbon steel one)..Ian

Re: Rear wheel thread size

Thanks . With cycle thread I never realised that you could get the same size with two different tpi's like 20 & 26 .Will give that company a try and see how much it will cost ,otherwise it may be cheaper to buy a new wheel spacer.
Many thanks jeff
