I had the exhaust system off the old G3 today and just wondered if anyone could tell me what should be inside the silencer? Looking into it, or rather straight through it, there is just one metal disc drilled with loads of little holes, nothing else, is this right? It's a newish replica part and the bike seems fairly loud, but not too bad. Any ideas?
Hey Bill,
AMC used to drill holes in the last five or so inches of the exhaust pipe and cap the end, thus making it the baffle. Its rather effective.
I also have a NOS C10 ex pipe with the same set up, so it wasn't exclusively AMC.
