This hand written page is in the back of this instruction book.

Re: Norton 16H, whats HMP Grease?

The inscription on the front is interesting, "GNR" for the Artillery rank of "Gunner"? and "T Garner, Manchester", would that have been a civilian garage rebuilding military bikes?

And what does "(K4)" signify?

Re: Norton 16H, whats HMP Grease?

Hi Rob,Tom Garner motors are still there, just in front of Manchester Uniteds
ground on Chester Road,a big place so possibly. There was a place just up the road
White city motors, they used to sell government surplus vehicles.Morris Minor
Travellers and Bedford Minibusses were his mainstay.I once stopped there to look
at a row of twenty B40s parked outside for sale, all consecutive number plates,
Ex Civil Defence,in gloss green,42 miles on the clock,£40.00 each. That was about
1972/3 when i had a C15.Couldnt afford £40 quid though.
HMP definitely high melting point. The other HMP is Manchester's most famous address,NO 1 Southall Street,HMP Strangeways
cheers Rick
