Bronze bush in timing gear plate

Hi,

As the bronze bush in my timinggearplate is loose, I was wondering if the bush really has an important function?

Does it perhaps prevents the bending of the outer end of the crankshaft ??

That's exactly what it does Michiel....Ian

Re: Bronze bush in timing gear plate

PS..In more detail...It stops the end of the shaft flapping about and takes the load exerted by the oil pump drive worm gears and crankshaft pinion...Ian

Re: Bronze bush in timing gear plate

A more serious function then I thought, I will give it some more attention then.

The diameter of the outer part of the shaft is relatively small so I can imagine it will bend under the load of the cams and worm.

Thanks for your (quick) reply, Michiel
