I am thinking of spending a week in Austria in 2013 retracing some of the routes used on the ill fated 1939 ISDT. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any issues or regulations which are likely to cause me problems as I intend to use a pre-war Matchless. Can I just turn up and ride where I like? I seem to remember you had to buy a special sticker to use the motorways but it didn't cost that much.
There are a lot of very long tunnels so having good lights would be helpfull, my M20 headgasket went about 3km into the Arlberg tunnel which was rather inconvenient.
And I was advised that I should have altered my jets for the high altitude?
