Great photo and we did indeed try this on a BMW single cylinder many years ago but it was with four guys

It's a captain of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. So he's Canadian and Scottish as well. The Seaforths were the first allied regiment to enter the city of Amsterdam.

This picture was taken on 8 may 1945. The name of the captain is William (Bill) Roberts. This picture was also used on a Dutch poststamp.
