Is the Captain Scottish or Canadian?

More likely to be Canadian, but hard to tell.

I also did this, have a picture somewhere, will try to find it!

Re: Heavy loaded 5 may 1945

The text with the photo says: Canadian soldiers during the liberation, Amsterdam may 1945.

It's a captain of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. So he's Canadian and Scottish as well. The Seaforths were the first allied regiment to enter the city of Amsterdam.

It's a captain of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. So he's Canadian and Scottish as well. The Seaforths were the first allied regiment to enter the city of Amsterdam on the evening of 7 may 1945. This picture was taken on 8 may 1945. The name of the captain is William (Bill) Roberts. This picture was also used on a Dutch poststamp.

Wherever he is from, at least he has the good sense to wear trousers.
