Brilliant photo of a small boy nicking this blokes inspection lamp, so he can put it on ebay, but what do we think the rectangular white panel is on the top of the tank?

Looks to me a paper or cardboard notice of some sort?

Anyone have a book ready on what the "31" stands for??

Is this North Africa?

31 on black was also used by the Provost Coy of Infantry Divisions and Corps Signals from April 1940 with the BEF.

And if there was another digit in front of the 31 we would not be able to see it from here.
