Timing / contact tester

Hi all

I recently picked up on my travels an old Honda timing / points tester

It's equipped with an audible buzzer which if connected to a set of points, buzzes until they begin to open

As it has its own battery and is designed to operate on std points (non magneto) would it be safe to use on a magneto such as an M01 ?

The tester dates at least from the 1970's

With best regards

Re: Timing / contact tester

hi john, that tester will not damage your magneto in any way,it will work fine just to tell you when the points break, same as a bulb and battery.
did you get your spare cylinder?i hope so.see you at the next jumble, good luck rick

Re: Timing / contact tester

Hi rick

Just checking as I didn't want to risk damaging the condenser although the modern types are very resilient

I didn't buy the barrel, on closer inspection it was an 8 stud version and was in far better condition than the others

Just as well - I had no use for an early type

Hope all well oop north

8 stud barrel question

Hi John, do you by chance have the name/contact of the person who had the 8 stud cylinder?. I have an early M20 with that barrel and would be interested.
Could you PM me on my home mail address please.
