Front Page Headlines

Now that’s what I call exposure!!

I'd asked Henk to add my XM20 to the visitor’s page and I end up on the front cover of the forum page. Thanks Henk.

Yes it’s yellow!!
The Haylock family that owned her for 53years must have loved canaries??

I asked questions back in September about the letters BRR stamped on the engine and also appear in the buff log book.

Re: Front Page Headlines

It seems a silly question but was this an AA bike before being registered to the family that owned it from 57?....I had a 1946 AA M20 sidecar outfit. It would explain the yellow tank and perhaps the missing first years?..
I believe the AA have records of at least some of their outfits...Ian

Re: Front Page Headlines

Isn't this frustrating? XM20 8146 not mentioned in the list.

Re: Front Page Headlines

I've gone out for the day and missed all the banter.

So there's a chance the Haylock's weren't Canary Fanciers after all!!!
I have to admit HYY 604 was always known to the family as an Ex AA bike.

Henk the photo you show above is this dispatch records from the BSA factory?

I have letters and photos which belonged to the Haylock's that the M20 may have been an AA motorcycle, although nothing concrete!

I will post this info tomorrow

Yes that's a copy of a page from the original BSA ledgers.

Re: Front Page Headlines

Hi Henk
Do you perhaps have factory ledgers for XM20 771?
I believe this may have been a consignment to the Rhodesian Police or Rhodesian Govenment in 1946 and I would like confirmation if possible. The tyres are marked "Made in Rhodesia". Engine and frame numbers match but the crankcase is stamped WM20 as it was possibly pre-stamped war surplus.

Peter

Dry battery, we will need one to dulplicate

Re: Front Page Headlines

Not sure what you mean by that Henk. A lead acid battery can be supplied dry, and is not activated till the acid is added. Ron

Re: Front Page Headlines

Some photos of the XM20 before Mr Haylock's son had it restored approx 1985

The last tax stamp in the buff book was 1964 so it's had 20 years of hard labour on the Haylock Farm by the looks of the photos!!!!

XM20 stripped to the frame & wheels. You can still see the HYY 604 reg!

Engine with a few broken head fins look identical to my engine now.

The tank..... See the Yellow paint below the overlaid silver. Could that be the original Yellow AA paint?? Or did BSA base coat the tank. Yellow?

Wish I could see the AA badge!
