any one else's M20 steering dampner friction plate not tighten
HI
Rebuilt my girder forks and now the m20 friction dampner assembly on the right side won't tighten all the way? I ve looked at every diagram and cant figure it out. I have 2 friction disks, 2 friction steel plates, the star shaped tensioner and the knob. When I tighten everything down the knob bottoms out agains the fork before everything tightens up? The star washer tensioner seems to not be flattened out so aany ideas please?

the centre bolt has a thread on the out side it should be tight then the knob runs up and down the the outside thread the strange shaped washer that ron is talking about is like a ratchet if you look at the underside of the knob you will see the cuts with this and the washer and a small spring it will click as you turn it locking it where you have turned it to can take picture of it if you want
