OK so there are long bolts and short bolts, mix 'em up for an iron head and use only long 'uns with the ally variety.
Problem is that I have long bolts, short bolts, slighlty longer than short bolts, shorter than long, a bit longer than long...etc etc.. I think, just maybe, that I have a motley collection of whatever fitted at the time the previous owners were wielding a spanner.
So the question is what is the length supposed to be of these mythical long/short beasties? Anyone got some lying around and a measuring stick?
Cheers
Pete
Thanks Ian! And another question for you while you are about. The Triumph piston you supplied for my B31 is about to go along with the sacrificial cylinder to the man with the big drill. Do you have any recommendation for clearance on the bore? (I would have gone for 0.09mm / 3.5 thou, or is that a bit "tight"?) .
