hi
another question revisited, i noticed from an old post that you need C3 bearings for the main bearings, i just purchased a set, but not C3 is that going to be a problem
Hi Mark ...That shouldn't cause you any problems. The 'C3' fit refers to the internal clearance of the bearing track and balls/rollers (not the outside dimensions or bore dimensions) and the difference between those and standard fit is minute. Originally the C3 gave a little more internal clearance to allow for the 'crush' on the bearing outers when they were shrunk into the crank cases.
However, most crankcases have lost some 'fit' over the years when bearings have been removed/replaced.
I have fitted non C3 bearings to many engines and have also taken them from running engines and they have not been problematical...Ian
