Doing 1 pinstripe would be hard enough, but to do another a different size and keep it the same distance away is unbelievable. A very skilled man
It's a great skill and as always fascinating to watch a skilled craftsman at work. In the factories bronze powder suspended in varnish is used for 'gold' lining..this is a much quicker process than the superior but more involved traditional gold leaf finish.
That is a three stage process..First the 'size' is painted on in the desired design, next the real gold 'leaf' is applied to that and finally, when dry, a protective coat of varnish is applied.
The gold is brighter and more reflective and unlike the bronze, doesn't darken with age...Ian
