Has anyone ever compiled a list of all the bolt sizes in an easy to use format, eg all grouped together for frame assembly, front mudguard assembly, forks, rear stand etc? I'm sure there are a lot of people like myself who are trying to get their bikes as close to original as possible. I would't mind using stainless however, and with my limited knowledge of imperial bolts and sizes, thread types etc. (born into the metric age) as well as working on a dog of a bike (huge amounts of metric fasteners fitted) its difficult to gather together all the information such as what the right bolt should be then source it, often over the internet, and find something that looks the part, is the right type and at a competitive price. I don't mind starting to compile such a list if someone can steer me in the right direction.
hi glenn, what a great idea.try looking at russell motors
website. click on the bsa wm20 section.
every part is listed in groups, complete with part number.
the only thing then is you will have to physically measure every item to compile the list.
the thread system is prolly not as daunting as you think as most are 26 tpi,in standard imperial diameters.
i personally do not like ,or trust stainless steel
fasteners.great that they dont rust, but they tend to have a one time tighten up syndrome, then they pick up
it then becomes impossible to free them ,out comes the hacksaw or angle grinder.
this can be over come to a degree with a decent lubricant applied or copper slip.but not for me ,i have had my fingers and my pocket burned many times.
good luck with your project,i will buy the first copy of your list
cheers rick
hi,
well it's not that simple......
you have 4 types of british standard bolts on our lovely wm20,
bsw, bsf, cei (bsc), and ba -for electrics and handlebar clamps....
confused??
i do not want to think of the amount of different taps and dies for this motorcycle alone...
good luck everyone..

I think that this is what you are looking for;-

You will still need your parts books for the BSA numbers.
Download the file as it is a "Zombie" page and will eventually vanish
