Matchless Gearbox Grease

I may be being a bit thick here, in fact I'm farily sure I am, but I can't work out how the grease gets into the Burman gearbox on my Matchless! The owners manual says that grease can be injected via the nipple in the front cover or directly into the hole for the large screw cap on the top, but doesn't that just fill up the front of the box? or does the grease somehow end up inside the actual box where it's needed?

Re: Matchless Gearbox Grease

Yes Bill there is a smallish hole near the bottom of the inner cover. I poor the semi fluid grease through the cap and just keep prodding it with a stick to vibrate it into the gear box. It's a slow tedious job and best done by warming the grease tin first. I bought Morris's semi fluid grease on line. Also if you run the bike, the vibration and action of the gears will pump it through quicker. Ron
