Crank case tell tale plug

Part number 27-181, to be precise. What tale it is supposed to tell; wet sumping level? Enquiring mind wants to know...

Hi Hans..This plug blocks off the drilling where the 'oil pressure' tell tale was fitted on early M20s. 39 was the last year for the tell tale I think..
When the engine was started a button popped out of the tell tale body to confirm there was oil pressure in the system..Strangely although the tell tale was discontinued BSA continued to drill, tap and plug the crankcase until 1947 on both sidevalve and OHV models....Ian

.......But I had a torch which I was using until the ARP warden told me to "put that light out"!!

It was a dark and stormy night.............

The cow was nearly blind,it bumped into a barbed wire fence and jag'ed its big behind.
Thats why cows have horns,cause their lights dont work. Boom Boom.
