I'm collecting all possible info to start making the wiring harness for my Norton.
Have seen the website's info, wiring diagrams and older threads on this forum.
What I can't find is the thickness of all the cables that I should start looking for. 4mm and 5mm is enough for all? Are these two the only used?
Your heaviest continued use circuit will be the headlamp. The horn may pull more amps but only temporarily. Assuming a heavier-than-original headlamp of 35 watts main beam, this circuit will be pulling less than 6 amps so you don't need more than 2mm diameter copper wire (or 14 AWG [American Wire Gauge]). Note that I'm not saying this is what was on the bike originally, just that it would be sufficient to carry the required current.
So for a 1940 Norton the correct wiring should be as follows (but with no stop and sidecar lights) and all of the cables used should be 4mm O.D. apart from the tail light which should be 4,5mm?
Any recommendations on a supplier for the coloured rubber cable slip-on end sleeves who has a website?
