hi all, its working for me now.
probably a silly question, looking at my mag from the points side my advance/retard cable goes in on the right side, with the cable slack would this be fully advanced?
im at the stage where im doing the timing, ive set the piston 7/16 before tdc, with the piston set am i right thinking id set the points as they just open or nearer the 11 o'clock position and with the advanced cable left slack??

Hi Barry..If the cable enters the mag on the right of the points it is fully advanced with the cable pulled tight...Take a look at the 'technical section' where you will find a detailed piece on setting ignition timing...Ian
