Hi ,can anyone tell me what lube should be in an m20 gearbox ,oil or grease?
my gearbox has grease inside, and so has my spare 'box.
is this the norm?

Hi Seamus..BSA specified SAE 40 engine oil for M20 gearboxes throughout their production. Fitting a sealed gearbox main bearing with the inner seal removed is the recommended cure for gearbox leaks.(bearing number 6207 2RS) If you don't have the gearbox apart I would recommend checking the oil level and topping up at no more than 500 mile intervals to avoid sleeve gear bush failure and other problems...Ian
