I would be really grateful if someone could email me any photos which show clearly examples of RAF markings. Does anyone have any records of RAF numbers as I am particularly interested in the Matchless RAF contracts. I am assuming there is no evidence of RAF bikes being painted in RAF blue grey ? Hi John..I have read that at the outbreak of hostilities everything that was blue grey pre war was immediately painted drab and everything produced after that was painted in drab for the duration....Ian

Hi John, Ian is right. They soon realized that petrol bowsers with bright yellow tops were a bit of an easy target.
