The head steady I found at Stafford (long ago...) has a kind of slight, double curve, and it fitted right away on my 1942 M20.
Now it seems that the head steady has to be straight, with the flat ends at 90 deg.
Are there any official differences known?
Hans the head steady you have could be one for civilian M20s for use with a sidecar. These have a slight curve to clear the sidecar mounting under saddle. Dave..
The head stay in the RAF Parts list (with side car) has part number 66-98. And the picture in Russell's list also shows that bend. Is the part number for 'normal' M20 models the same?
Hans, This is the head steady from one of my M20's (1942) if that is of any use.
This appears to be an original part as it has quite a bit of OD paint.
When I first got this in 1971 it was covered in brushed on blue that I scraped off.
