Yesterday was an important, but largely ignored anniversary (specially for those who thought the Hollywood version was true!!).
It was 70 years ago yesterday that the German U boat U110 was captured by HMS Bulldog and a German Naval Enigma machine was recovered.
This ultimately led to the breaking of the Enigma Code, which itself had a major effect on the course of the war...Ian

I could have posted the entire history...but the information gained from the recovery of the machine, along with the work done at Bletchley Park was instrumental in making the decoded information readily available in a workable time frame.
I think it is generally accepted this WAS an important event...Ian
