Does anyone know if there was a gasket used between the rim and the flat glass on a DU142 headlamp? Otherwise how is the headlamp waterproof? I know that there was a cork gasket between the flat glass and the reflector....

Lucas manuals don't show two gaskets for these headlamps, just the one between rim and glass. It's Lucas part number 508736 and variously described as rubber or "Langite" (whatever that is or was). I doubt whether you can buy it any more, but I guess that some soft rubber tubing, such as the stuff used as draft seals around doors, would work at least as well.
