Re: 15-7985 Brake rod wing nut.

Mine measures 5/16th of an inch, and is 5/16 BCSY. BSCY & CEI are the same. 26 TPI, 60 degree included angle thread. Very fine and shallow, easilly stripped.

Thanks a lot Rob!

Matias, is it this nut ?

Photobucket

If so, then it is indeed 5/16" - If you've got an odd sized rod then make sure it isn't Norton. They're 5/16' rods but reduced to 9/32" for the threaded section.

I've still got a couple of these nuts NOS at £7.50 each if anyone wants one.

Re: 15-7985 Brake rod wing nut.

Hi Rik!

Thanks for the help.

I have rechecked the rod and it straight. So it should be M20's.
I'm interested in getting one of those fly nuts.
Can you email me in private for details.

Thanks in advance and kindest regrads!

Iain, have you bought yourself a BSA ? This nut doesn't fit the standard Norton rod, nor does it have quite the correct extended 'Mickey Mouse' type ears.

If you're using a modified rod though, it would certainly do the job and look the part.

Sadly no , i was on my modern. Since my 16H has swallowed my wallet my Commando is sitting in need of tlc, which won't happen until the 16H spend is under control and the work platform is free.
I did ride with 3 Commando's - 4200km (2600mile) round trip and only a few loose elec connections, 3 x forgot turn the petrol on, and one drained tank from a fuel line which fell off while in motion.

Re: 15-7985 Brake rod wing nut.

Hey,

I'm looking for one of those Wing Nuts. Any idea where I can find one?

Cheers,
