Hello guys,
I have a question:
If I want to replace the carb on an WN20,(W/sidecar)
Would it be worth to install a 276P/1B carb, which is the original for WM21
instead of the 276C/1B which was the original for the M20?
Also I saw that 276L/1E is equal to 276C/1B.
What is the difference?... R/L side? Top/bottom feed? Long float chamber arm?...
There use to be a chart with all the letters and what it means on Amal site but cannot find it and I am lost..
Thanks!
Noam.
Hi Noam. The 276P/1B M21 carb has a bore diameter of 1 1/16" whereas the 276C/1B M20 carb is 1". There would be no point in fitting the bigger carb unless you also open up the inlet tract in the barrel. I am just going through the process of having my M20 carb opened up to a 1 1/16" bore by Martyn Bratby as I am building my engine into an M21 size. I was just about to hone out my inlet tract when I found it was already done, indicating that it already has an M21 barrel. Ron
I just finished rebuilding my motor from scratch with all NOS components as 500cc, and want to also replace the carb.
I was wondering if it would be useful to install the slightly bigger barb of the M21 with honed inlet ports, and still get the engine running steady and "Round", with the benefit of some more juice..
Thanks again,
Noam.
