Was communicating with Jan on his fine results and asked him about the spread of the lower stays. I had purchased a set from another replicator previously and much to my surprise, could not fit the carrier to my 1942 bike's rear fender. The fender was too wide.

However, going over to a 1940 model which I also have, turns out the rear fender, which has the original brass contract plate, was the correct width.

Has anyone else found out that the rear fenders came in different widths? Henk?

There could easily have been small differences but I am sure small enough to call them the same size. I haven't had any problems with mudguards.
