In todyas Daily Telegraph there is an obituuary for Irvine Butterfield , who has died aged 72.
I hadnt heard of him though he is billed as a photographer,conservationist and writer (several books about hills and mountains). He lived much of his life in Scotland at Pitcairn Green near Perth.
He was born at Farnhill, and it simply says after leaving school , he worked at Keighley Gasworks, and as a Post Office clerk before joining Hm Customes and Excise.
He was unmarried, but had a long term partner Moira Gillespie.
Anyone know of him ? Was he related to Prof Herbert Butterfield ?
