Passing of Roger Winward

I don't know if any of you remember Roger Winward, he appeared at KBGS during 1960/61, I was trying to get in touch with him and in the process discovered that yet another of our number have shuffled off this mortal coil.

As a Memorial to the dedication of the many years Roger Winward had to the world of Music,
" The Roger Winward Memorial Scholarship " was established at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Connecticut, USA a few years ago. WCSU is a well known " New England " University featuring many courses in music. The Roger Winward Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a student majoring in " Music Education " ( to become a music teacher ) which shall help to carry on the memory and legacy of Roger Winward. Roger and his wife Lesley visited Danbury Connecticut USA in the late 1990's.

A brick with the name Roger Winward engraved on it has been placed in the " Alumni & Friends Circle " near the main entrance to this university.

A new " school of Music and the Performing Arts " bearing a cost of over 100 Million USD shall begin construction at this university within the next year.

The Roger Winward Memorial Schoolarship at Western Connecticut State University is funded by family and friends in the UK and the USA.
