Having seen the copy of a Millar Prize for handicraft on the site, I went digging in the attic and found mine. Dated 24.11.47, I think it was my only achievement at KBGS, apart from a poem which was printed in the magazine, Zeast, which I think was started by the Art Master who lived somewhere in Silsden. It also reminded me of the clouts received from Frizzie, so I put it back in the attice !
Years at KBGS e.g. 1958-1964 (optional) 43-48
Current location (optional) Was Steeton, now west Wales
That gave me a good laugh John.I also had the benefit of Frizzies attention in 1947. You obviously had more skill than I did at handicraft. Bill Midgely wrote in my first report. "Has no aptitude for this subject" If only he could see the array of tools and DIY gadgets in my workshop, and some of the projects I've tackled over the years. He might be proud. The magazine was Zest, produced by Harry Harpin. Cheers.
I enjoy very much reading the recollections of other Old Keighlians who were not contemporaries of mine - BUT there are some very big gaps in the school years represented here due, I believe,to the many Old Keighlians who visit this site who do not share their recollections and opinions. Come on, lads. Let's be hearing from you. I wonder if Chris would be willing (in the face of this apparent reluctance) to permit postings from former pupils of KGGS?
