Ilkley Moor

The moor is on fire, that's not just 'There's a fire on the moor!', that's' 'The MOOR is on fire'.
12th of August soon, as well. Roast pheasant anyone?
The town smells like someone smoking a pipeful of herbal bacca.

Re: Ilkley Moor

So are the moors above Cowling. A helicopter was dousing the flames with water this afternoon. The worry is, that if the fire spreads to the village, several pounds worth of damage could be caused

Re: Ilkley Moor

Any late lkley Moor fires as this Indian Summer gets into full swing. I suppose there will be bumper crop of bilberries as well. Backbreaking work mind you even when we were lads. Bilberry pie made by mother in those long ago days.

Re: Ilkley Moor

Too late for billberries Cedric.

They're ready for the old 'Keighley Feast' weeks (last in July, first in August).

Managed to pick 14 lbs this year above Newsholme Dean - never been so large (the berries, not me!).
