Wrong words in hymns

Im sure there were many of us used to sing corrupt words in hymns,(particularly in Christmas Carols)

eg ....his first avowed intent to be a Grimpil (Not pilgrim).

Hark the herald angels sing, 'Beechams Pills are just the thing'

We three Kings of Orient are.
Selling chocolate, tuppence a bar,
One in a scooter, blowing his hooter,
Following yonder star

While Shepherds washed their socks by night,
And hung them on a line,
The Angel of the Lord came down,
And said 'Those socks are mine'

There must have been others .........

Re: Wrong words in hymns

Versions current among the choristers at St Mark's, Utley, in the war years:

While shepherd washed their socks by night
All seated round a tub,
A bar of Sunlight Soap came down,
And they began to scrub.

and . .

Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the feast of Stephen.
Something hit him on the snout;
'Twas a red-hot cinder.
Brightly shone his nose that night,
Though the frost was cruel;
When a poor man came in sight
Riding on a rusty bike.
