The evening of the school fire, my father, David Spragg and I drew up at the traffic lights at the top of Cavendish St., having returned from a football match at Burnley. David passed a comment about school again on Monday and I distinctly remember turning round to him and saying, " I wish it would burn down or something."
Imagine my shock, horror, then glee, when David came charging round the next morning with the news. For a few months after that I really thought I might have accidentally tuned in on God's wave-length. Unfortunately the granting of that wish, especially with regard to school, was not to be the beginning of the exciting and fruitful communication, that I hoped for.

Hi Carol, I presume you are in fact a lady. Well, names can be confusing -- was not there a famous Halifax male wrestler called 'Shirley' many years ago! Anyway, Carol, I believe you are the first woman to post on this website since it inception three years ago.
Yes, it definitely looks like our male bastion has been breached. I remember when they let ladies into the snooker room at my local Conservative Club down the Aire Valley. It was never the same again.
