Re: Shipley Glen

Vague memories of being taken there in the police car by Dad . Official business . My brother and I hidden in the back seat under police cape which they had then . This was in about 1942 when the Glen was in use as a practice ground for tanks so Dad took us along to watch as they tore about . Top stuff for us lads then . The light rail was shut down for the duration .

Re: Shipley Glen

Wasn't Shipley Glen in vogue when Belle Vue flourished? Another day out but I've no recollection of Belle Vue at all and that was my first bump into French sans knowing it. Another attraction was Hollingworth Lake which then reminds me of Ogden Water; another circular walk.
