Announced in the Craven Herald is the sad news of John’s sudden death on 9th February. John was 83 yrs of age when he died. Whilst at school he lived at Sutton in Craven. He was a Prefect and a keen rugby player and I do believe that he would have been a member of the 1st XV in the early fifties. He later played with the Keighlians. He became a Solicitor and practiced in Wharfedale before retiring to the Gargrave area where he told me that his next door neighbour was Fred Truman. I have very fond memories of John, particularly of playing tennis with him in Sutton Park together with John and Robert Barrett, Peter Barsby and Alan Caterall.
