My dad, Brian Boocock, attended KGS from 1940-1947. He lived in Glusburn where his father (my grandad) was a wool sorter at Hayfields Mill. Brian played rugby and cricket for the School and then went to Sheffield University. He did his National Service on the Isle of Man, and then settled on the Wirral. He was employed by Unilever for all his working life. He died in November 2010. I inherited two caps awarded for rugby (1945-46) and cricket 1946. Would these be of interest to anyone, or is there any sort of resting place for KGS memorabilia? If so, please contact me via this forum.
We are holding a display of KBGS photographs and memorabilia in the Keighley Library in Septemember. Would love to borrow the caps for that and afterwards perhaps lodge them with the former scholars association? You can contact me on keighleyschools@gmail.com
I met up with David Kirkley this morning and he informs me that he is now in possession of the two School Caps belonging to Brian Boocock. These will be on the KBGS Display at Keighley Library on the 8th September. Well done, Dave.
