Certainly not the style I remember Gil sporting. The khaki issue he wore at school camp could have been Indian army demob issue.

"Foragers 1/2" and "Staff Camp Ablutions". Personal recollection of these and those worn to referee school games showed very little knee - and the stockings were semi-contiguous.
