Happy Yorkshire Day! Happy Yorkshire Day? I read your greeting John and then open the paper to see the following headlines, 'Yorkshire Crash to Defeat in Holland'. 'Warrington put Bradford to the Sword' I read that Yorkshire's UK showjumping No 2 has been arrested over an hotel fracas. It seems that there is not much for a Yorkshireman to celebrate today but I suppose we should congratulate Simon Dyson on winning the Irish Open and we could say 'Ta' to Eric, a local lad big in national politics who is to to ensure that car parking fees in town centres throughout the country are to be reduced.
Aye Shaun, Tim Bresnen did us proud didn't he? My chest expanded a couple of inches as I watched the events unfolding at Trent Bridge yesterday and again this morning when I read of his exploits in the newspaper. Tim Bresnan celebrated Yorkshire Day in style with 90 runs and 5 wickets! "Yesterdays contribution [to the win] was apposite as it was Yorkshire Day, Bresnen extending it from its parochial patch down the M1 to Trent Bridge".
