Perhaps she was a lesbian. Why not?

Re: ART MISTRESS AT OAKBANK.

No, Blossom wasn't a lesbian! She had a boyfriend for many years who was a Russian Orthodox Jew... maybe she couldn't marry on religious grounds, I don't know. She also looked after her aged parents for many, many years, which wouldn't help her marriage prospects.I have the greatest respect for the lady and was glad to see she is still with us.

Re: ART MISTRESS AT OAKBANK.

Blossom died last year;
COLLINGHAM Audrey May Collingham, formerly of Cark Street and Ridgeway Mount, Keighley. Died January 31 2019, at Threshfield Court Care Home, Grassington, aged 88 years. Audrey taught Art to many generations of school children, first at Keighley Boys Grammar School and, after re-organisation, at Oakbank Grammar School becoming Head of Department. Throughout her career she remained a practising artist and continued her studies of art history. She also learned several languages. Audrey was well known for her love of cats, dogs, birds and hedgehogs - many of whom formed the subjects of her paintings. She actively supported many animal rescue charities, and visitors to her home often encountered a house full of animals. In 1991, she was briefly married to a long term friend Patrick Webb of Ripon, who sadly died shortly after their wedding. She is remembered with affection by many friends including past pupils and colleagues, one of whom will assist in officiating at her funeral. This will take place on Thursday, February 28, at 1.00pm at Keighley Shared Church. This will be followed by interment at Bingley Cemetery, donations in memory of Audrey, which will be given to animal charities may be left c/o H Eaton Funeral Directors of Ilkley 01943 607360.

Re: ART MISTRESS AT OAKBANK.

Thanks IW. Odd she would be buried in Bingley. Her obituary makes no mention of living in the town or attending the former Bingley College of Education.

BLOSSOM

"Kangaroo words" are words that contain their own synonyms.

A kangaroo word sounds like something that's spoken in Australia, but it's actually a word that happens to contain its own synonym, with the letters to spell it in the correct order. According to Dictionary.com, examples include the words "chocolate" (which includes the synonym "cocoa"), "masculine" ("male"), "blossom" ("bloom"), "chicken" ("hen"), "rambunctious" ("raucous"), and "deceased" ("dead").
