Just got back from a few days camping at Charity Farm. What a dump! Have read good older reviews on this site but how times must have changed. We were put on a side field in between a horse field and a storage area for gravel, soil and stones. There is a lot of building work going on here - jcb's excavating and cement being brought in - 7.30 on sunday morning the tractor was coming and going collecting stones in its bucket - the noise and the dust were terrible. When I complained to the owner he said that there was nothing he could do about it as "this is a working farm"! - camping, fishing and some horses is not a working farm! The only farming here is the farming of poor customers cash! The toilets are disgusting. The showers are dirty and cost 50p for a few minutes warm water. There is nothing for children to do. The steps and entrance to the vending machine shed is covered in cigarette ends - months worth. Once it becomes dark there is no lighting at all on the subsidiary tent field - just hundreds of yards of rubble covered tracks. A very unsavoury place.
